Campus Police increase focus on traffic safety and enforcement
UNCW Police will now enforce state bicycle laws, conducting vehicle checkpoints and monitoring speed in an effort to increase the safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians on campus.
Two recently awarded state grants totaling $26,824, allocated through funds from the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration, will allow the UNCW Police Department to step up safety efforts and introduce new initiatives.…

World ACTion Festival informs UNCW students
Students, faculty and members of the Wilmington community came together at the World ACTion Festival at the Burney Center. The event was held to highlight the Synergy Common Reading book for this fall, "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier." Rev. Don Skinner named Albert Schweitzer Honors Scholar
Reverend Don Skinner was named the Albert Schweitzer Honors Scholar by UNCW for his humanitarian work in the community. Skinner has worked with the homeless and near-homeless since 1992, when he served as job director for Good Shepherd Ministries. After the economy eliminated his position there in 2002, Skinner decided to start his own program to help the homeless.…
