Sophomore Doug Beal recieved a 32-inch plasma HDTV Saturday night for winning Seahawk Sport's Marketing's homecoming fan contest. Fans were challenged to make a basket from half-court.

The Homecoming King and Queen weren't the only big winners during Saturday night's festivities during the basketball game versus William & Mary.

At the final media timeout of the first half, sophomore Doug Beal rose to the challenge of Seahawk Sports Marketing's toughest fan contest to date. Beal drilled a half-court shot after two contestants before him narrowly missed.

"The second I let it go I thought I air-balled it," he said.

The extraordinary play earned Beal a 32-inch high-definition plasma TV from Vizio.

In the moments prior to the big shot, Beal admitted he was torn between two methods. "At first, I was going to try a jumper, but I switched to the runner. It just felt right," he said.

He added that this was not the first time he's drained a long ball. "I always screw around and practice crazy shots when I'm at the recreation center."

It certainly paid off.
