Why was he relieved of duties and banned from campus?

If it was a personal problem why go through the trouble of alerting students??? The student body wants to know the facts, not some Hitchcock explanation.

Why would I call police if I don't know the reason I'm calling? They said that he doesn't pose a threat. Apparently he just recently left a psychiatric facility. UNCW did a great job of trying to keep this matter personal. Everyone who got the e-mail is trying to figure out what Murdock did.

i think its unfair that you only warn us and not tell us why he has been relieved. wouldnt it be in our best concern to know what he was done in case we do see him?

this is all confusing...

That message should have never been sent out because it insinuates that he is a threat when he is not. His wife made untrue statements to the university, which resulted in this situation. Dr. Murdock does not pose a threat to faculty, staff, students nor anyone else.

Regardless of what his wife did or did not say there's well reason the full details were not posted. Just be glad the police have taken the action they did. I don't think you or many others are in a position to determine this individual's threat level.
