Oil spreading to N.C. coast not likely

Although it's been speculated that the oil spill from the Gulf of Mexico could possibly reach North Carolina's coast, officials say that this is not likely. The U.S. Coast Guard says there is less than a 1 percent chance of the oil reaching this far north.

Big controversy followed the Big Rock Tournament recently held in Morehead City, N.C. The biggest fish, an 883 pound blue marlin, was set to win a big prize of over $1 million, when a little problem got in the way. Rules state that everyone on board must have a North Carolina fishing license.

UNCW is hosting the 2010 Puppeteers of America Southeast Conference, sponsored by the Office of Cultural Arts. "More than two dozen different performances, exhibits and events will take place between Thursday, July 14 and Sunday, July 18," said Courtney Reilly, the assistant director of cultural arts.
