A pat on ACE's back

Good job, Association for Campus Entertainment. I wrote an editorial a few weeks ago, before the performer at the spring show was announced, urging ACE to make sure that the show happened--even if the performer was little known and obscure. When I found out that ACE had landed Demetri Martin, my expectations were vastly exceeded. So, thank you, ACE. In the midst of controversy and doubt, you managed to come through with a performer that most students at UNCW can, and will, thoroughly enjoy.

I only caught bits and pieces of Martin's Comedy Central special, entitled "Demetri Martin. Person." However, the parts I did see were hilarious and left my roommates and I hunched over in laughter. He is definitely a star in the making. Not only that, but the tickets are cheap ($10), he targets the college age demographic and comes relatively controversy-free, unlike previous performers (who shall remain unnamed).

I really just wanted to take this opportunity to thank ACE and all of those involved with the spring show. You all put in a ton of work each year, especially in the spring, and are sometimes denied the glory for reasons completely out of your hands. I, for one, will be at the show, and appreciate ACE working hard to bring an affordable, enjoyable performer for this year's spring show.
